Embsay Railway & Bolton Abbey

Article text
Embsay Station
Here we can get two locations within minutes of each other, just outside the market town of Skipton. The Embsay Railway is a small intimate steam line with a collection of steam engines and coaches. The train runs back and forth along its track with a station at each end and plenty of opportunities to get some good shots at both ends as well as aboard between them.

Bolton Abbey is one of those religious buildings that got knocked about a bit, however, what is left presents the photographer with plenty of scope for creative images. The Abbey sits in a bend of the river Aire, and there are a number of walks along the banks which, depending on water levels allow some good shots of rapids and moving water.
